Our story
How did our community evolve?
2005 - 2012
Beginnings
Irish dance in Poznan is developed by the Irish Dance School ISTA associated with the Irish Dance Commission in Dublin and the Celtica Irish dance group.
August 2012
We have a home!
Community Leader, Magdalena Mak-Jeszka, opens EtnoBalans Dance Studio. Irish dancers move into the studio at Wielka 19 in Poznań, enjoying their own space for training and meetings.
2012 - 2014
Dance worlds fusion
The studio becomes a space where various dance worlds interchange: Irish dance, tap dance, flamenco, balfolk, swing, contemporary dance, hula, afro, samba, salsa, broadway jazz, improvisation...
2015 - 2017
Arts space
The EtnoBalans space is enlarged and hosts a variety of artistic projects, music and vocal workshops, body work workshops, dances, performances, craft workshops...
2017 - 2020
Free birds again
Magda starts a new life adventure in Berlin and gives space in Wielka Street over to her friends. Our community continues to dance, new instructors lead regular classes and a Sheemore Irish dance group emerges.
March 2020
Virtual reality (insanity?)
The COVID-19 pandemic provides us with new challenges and we start to meet in virtual space as well, in order to be able to sustain the dance vibrations.
